To strengthen our team in Geneva or Zurich, we are looking for a Compliance Officer.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to build and further develop the firm’s compliance function, with a particular focus on AML, KYC, client and matter intake, policies, procedures and risk based processes. You will work closely with different stakeholders and play a key role in establishing clear, practical and firm wide compliance standards in an international law firm environment.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, implement and further development the firm’s compliance framework, with a focus on AML, KYC, client and matter intake, sanctions and risk assessment processes.
- Review and improve internal compliance policies, procedures, controls and documentation standards.
- Conduct and coordinate client due diligence checks independently, including client identification, beneficial ownership reviews, risk classifications and enhanced due diligence.
- Review client structures, corporate documents and international jurisdictions from a compliance and risk perspective.
- Advise partners, lawyers and Business Services teams on day-to-day compliance questions.
- Monitor regulatory developments and support their implementation into internal processes and standards.
- Prepare internal compliance reports, risk assessments and ad hoc analyses.
- Develop internal training and awareness initiatives on AML, KYC, sanctions and related compliance topics.
- Contribute to compliance projects, process efficiency and continuous improvement.
Your profile:
- Higher education in law, economics, business administration, finance or an equivalent field.
- 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in compliance, ideally in a Swiss regulated environment (banking, asset management, financial services or another regulated environment).
- Good knowledge of AML, client due diligence, beneficial ownership, sanctions and risk based compliance processes.
- Good understanding of corporate structures and corporate documents from different jurisdictions.
- Experience in developing or improving policies, procedures, controls and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills, a structured working style and the ability to take ownership in a pragmatic and solution-oriented manner.
- High level of integrity, discretion, accountability and sound judgement.
- Hands-on mentality and motivation to help build a compliance function in a professional law firm environment.
- Experience with compliance tools, onboarding and conflict check systems, document management systems and screening databases (such as World Check) is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and either German or French. Additional languages are an advantage.
